I understand that (k**2-k)//2 is the amount of food eaten a time k-1 minutes. What I don't get is the use of (k**3-k)/6. I reduced in to k(k-1)/2 * (k+1)/3 but what is the meaning of this formula and why do you take it as function to your binary search ? More
